The Knik Tribe's harmful algal blooms (HABs) project, Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning Risk Management, is a 4-year project working closely with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s Environmental Health Laboratory, testing shellfish, fish, and invertebrate samples sent to us from across Alaska.
Please see below for the 2023-2024 Paralytic Shellfish Toxin (PST) Results update for March 07, 2024.
About the document:
· The attached excel spreadsheet will allow you to filter the data by date, species, PST level, region or location.
TIP: To customize your filter click on the pointing down arrow next to the category and select ''Contains'' at the ''Text Filters''.
· The highlighted rows in the PST Results update indicate newly added PST sample results since the last emailed update.
· Values in red indicate PST levels are above the FDA regulatory limit of 80 μg/100g.
· Paralytic shellfish toxin levels are analyzed using MBA or HPLC analysis. Please note, these data are solely for research purposes, and regardless of toxin level, do not designate any location as safe for harvesting.
Please feel free to contact us at jmcconnell@kniktribe.org and/ or bwright@kniktribe.org with any questions or if you would like to have samples tested for PSTs. The Knik Tribe will cover all associated costs with PST testing and shipping.
