Transportation Planner
Current Events in Transportation Planning:
Chignik Lagoon Tribal Village Council sent out the Request for Proposal for the Landfill Sewage Lagoon Road design project and received proposals from CE2 Engineers, Bristol Engineering, PND Engineering and Kinney & Associates.
Our scoring team held a couple meetings and the results were CE2 Engineers won the bid contract for Landfill/Sewage Lagoon Road design. The road committee held three meetings reviewing and amending the contract for the Landfill Sewage Lagoon Road design project. Based on the Dowl feasibility study completed in 2012 all parties concurred that the landfill access beach route would be the most feasible alternative route. The current landfill and sewage lagoon access route follows the shoreline and is controlled by tidal events. A new landfill access road would be built above High tide elevations and armored with rock to protect from storms and tidal erosion. Construction and maintenance on the steep side hill areas along the proposed hillside route would be challenging and too costly. The completed road alignment would be the first step towards access to Metrafania airport and Inter-tie road.
CLVC Transportation Planner is updating Chignik Lagoon’s Long-Range Transportation Plan to a newer updated plan. Completing this in-house would potentially save $8,500.00 to $9,500 if an outside firm were hired. Chignik Lagoon Village council’s most recent Long-Range Transportation Plan was done by Bristol Environmental in 2002 so updating the plan is needed.
Completed a draft Bear Hill Road strip map (Rhonda’s road), and Brown’s Point strip map and coding sheets that needs to be submitted to BIA soon to be classified as “Official“. This would allow available BIA Transportation funds to be spent building and/or maintaining road access to new HUD home lots. Will also be working on adding newer strip map, Hydro Dam road extension past the Dam for maintenance and a potential gravel source.
